Connecting In-House Legal Professionals in the Netherlands

The event took place at Bistro Berlage, a venue that perfectly matched the informal and welcoming atmosphere of the afternoon. The event was particularly special because it was the first time an NGB event was specifically opened to non-members. This offered English-speaking in-house counsel the opportunity to get acquainted with the association, its members and its activities. The gathering also marked an important moment in the further internationalisation of the NGB network, following the official opening of membership to English-speaking in-house legal counsel living and working in the Netherlands.

After a short welcome, the programme included a personal story from Nexperia’s Ilija Pjanovic. As an expat, he shared his experiences of starting a career in the Netherlands and his professional journey at Nexperia. Throughout the afternoon, conversations quickly emerged between participants from various sectors and organisations. Both experienced in-house counsel and professionals who were relatively new to the Netherlands exchanged experiences, established new contacts and shared insights about working as legal professionals in an international environment.

NGB looks back positively on this successful first edition. The strong engagement from both members and non-members highlighted the value of accessible networking opportunities and demonstrated clear interest among English-speaking legal professionals in joining a professional network focused on knowledge sharing, connection and professional growth.

With this event, NGB took a further step in strengthening and broadening its network. By actively involving international in-house counsel, the association aims to continue building an inclusive professional organisation for all in-house legal counsel in the Netherlands.
